Boston, MA, 8 April 2021 – FCLTGlobal, the non-profit organization that develops research and tools to rebalance capital markets, has appointed Theresa Whitmarsh, Executive Director of the Washington State Investment Board (WSIB), as the new chair of its board of directors.
Whitmarsh, who has served on FCLTGlobal’s board since the organization’s founding in 2016, was elected chair by the board of directors in today’s full board meeting. She succeeds Mark Machin, former President and CEO of CPP Investments.
“Theresa and her team at WSIB have been key advocates for our mission for many years and we’re excited to have her as our board chair,” said Sarah Keohane Williamson, FCLTGlobal’s CEO. “They are an organization rooted in the long term – we’re fortunate to have Theresa stewarding FCLTGlobal in the years ahead.”
Whitmarsh is Executive Director of the Washington State Investment Board, one of the United States’ leading institutional investors, managing over $165 billion of state pension, insurance, and other public trust assets. WSIB is a leader in private markets investing, with private equity, real estate, and tangible assets comprising nearly 50 percent of its retirement portfolio. Theresa joined the WSIB in 2003 with 20 years’ experience in business, government, and media. She has a Master’s in Business Administration, Pacific Lutheran University, and Bachelor of Arts, English Literature, Seattle Pacific University. In addition to her role on the FCLTGlobal board, she is vice chair of Advisor Board of the Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership. She is past Chair of the Pacific Pension & Investment Institute and the Council of Institutional Investors, and served as a director with the International Centre for Pension Management. She is a former member of ABP’s Investment Committee. She has also served on several World Economic Forum Global Agenda Councils.
